The Rhythm of Life

At St. Paul’s Bloor Street, we believe that Jesus changes lives.

We are a diverse and growing community learning how to follow Jesus in the heart of downtown Toronto. Whether you are curious, critical, or committed, you are welcome here.

As we learn to follow Jesus in our global city, we pursue a deeper rhythm of life together. Nourished by the ancient habits of the Church through the centuries, we believe this rhythm of life will be both a challenge and a joy.

5 Core Practices

Worship

Resting weekly from work to join in the public worship of the church.

01

Prayer and Study

Praying and reading the Bible daily and gathering regularly to do the same with others.

02

Service

Offering our time to the church and to our local community.

03

Generosity

Giving as we can to support the church and other community needs locally and abroad.

04

Faithful Living

Bringing the teaching and example of Jesus into all parts of our everyday lives and sharing honestly about our faith.

05

All that we do at St.Paul’s is an overflow of one of these core practices.

Because we believe these rhythms will make us more like Jesus, we think this is the best way to impact Toronto with the love, mercy and grace of God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Beliefs

We believe that Jesus is relevant to every single person in any situation.

Regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome at St. Paul’s.

  • We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the revealed Word of God containing all things necessary to salvation.
  • We worship one God in three Persons, praying to the Father through the Son by the Holy Spirit.
  • We take part in the Sacraments ordained by Christ himself, through the ministry of the apostolic orders.
  • We are an integral part of the one Body of Christ composed of Churches which, united under the headship of Jesus, are in the fellowship of the one holy catholic and apostolic Church throughout the ages.
  • We believe in the apostolic succession of bishops.
  • We hold the one Faith revealed in Holy Scripture, and defined in the creeds as maintained by the undivided primitive Church in the undisputed Ecumenical Councils.
  • We belong to the worldwide Anglican Communion under the leadership of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
  • We pray for the healing of the Church’s sad divisions and for the reunification of the Body of Christ.

We celebrate the expression of the historic Christian faith found in the Book of Common Prayer and while we host a variety of worship services, we seek to ensure that all our public worship embodies this reformed, catholic theological stance.
