A Free People

God raises up a leader, Nehemiah, who guides the community in restoring their homes. Equal parts memoir, history, and devotional, the book of Nehemiah shows what it means to live our all-too-short lives trusting in the long arc of God’s faithfulness, even when it’s hard to see *any* light at the end of the tunnel. As the world enters year two of the pandemic, there’s no better book to remind us that the work of rebuilding is always harder and longer than we want it to be—and always worth it, if God is at the centre.
