June 2021 Outreach

The Covid-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected those on the margins of our society, and we as a church have an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those most in need.

Throughout the month of June we will be offering a number of ways that you can share the love of Jesus with our neighbours both locally and globally. We encourage you to look through the following options and choose one (or more) to support through June:

  • Youth Ministry participating in the 30-Hour Famine for COVID-19 Relief in India
  • Give 6ix: Donate Supplies or Time to Yonge Street Mission
  • Raising $13,000 for All Saints, Sherbourne St
  • The CAP Money Course

30-Hour Famine for COVID-19 relief in India

St. Paul’s Youth Group is excited to announce that, on June 18 and 19, they are going to take part in a 30-Hour Famine, when as a group they will fast for 30 hours in order to raise money for COVID-19 emergency relief in India. The goal is to raise $5000, and if the goal is met, Bishop Jenny Andison has promised to dye her hair purple! The funds will be sent to World Vision’s India COVID-19 relief fund.

If you’d like our Youth Group to raise $5000 for a worthy cause (or, if you’re just curious to see what Bishop Jenny looks like with purple hair), you can donate by visiting our Give Online page. Under the “Fund” section, select “30 Hour Famine Donations” from the drop-down box and then finish completing the donation form.

Please consider supporting our Youth as they explore ways to fulfill the call to be agents of love and compassion in a world that so desperately needs it.

Give 6ix: Donate Supplies or Time to Yonge Street Mission

GIVE 6IX is an opportunity to give in a uniquely Toronto way throughout our city and beyond. It’s an invitation for neighbours to help neighbours, and to increase the community of support in the city we love in real, tangible and meaningful ways.

It’s easy. GIVE 6IX invites you to do or give 6 things (any 6 things!) in order to help someone struggling in Toronto, “the Six”, right now. You might feel your actions are small, but as more people GIVE 6IX – once everyone gets involved – the impact will grow. Visit ysm.ca/give6ix for ideas on how to get involved!

Connect with your friends, family and co-workers to share this opportunity with them. . . give or do 6IX of anything you wish and support neighbours in your community.

In addition, any amount of any of the following items you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Items can be dropped off at YSM (306 Gerrard St E). For more information, you can contact Eleanor at eedwards@ysm.ca.

Needed Items:

– Body Soap/Body wash
– Toothpaste
– Deodorant
– Body cream

Raising $13,000 for All Saints, Sherbourne St

All Saints, Sherbourne Street is an Anglican mission just a few blocks south of St Paul’s, at 315 Dundas St E. All Saints’ mission is rooted in Jesus’ commandment to love one another. Their vision is to share in God’s love in action at Dundas and Sherbourne, especially those most in need, in a place of by connection, welcome, and practical help.

Four and a half days a week, they run a drop-in for some of Toronto’s most economically disenfranchised people: people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, addiction, and other challenges. They provide food, clothing, harm reduction kits, nursing care, case management, housing support, spiritual and pastoral care, and a sense of community.

They foster a non-judgemental atmosphere by respecting the people they serve, recognizing there are many reasons for why we live as we do, and acknowledging the discrimination and prejudice faced by so many. They are a diverse community and aim to be inclusive, healthy, and safe.

Our goal is to raise $13,000 for All Saints’ general operations through FaithWorks. FaithWorks, is a charitable program of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto. The program provides financial support to 15 agencies and ministries like All Saints, Sherbourne Street.

Help us reach our goal of $13,000 by visiting our Give Online page. Under the “Fund” section, select “All Saints Sherbourne (Faithworks)” from the drop-down box and then finish completing the donation form.
