Children’s
Ministry

Join us for Children’s Ministry online!

Our goal in Children’s Ministry is to provide a place where children can learn about Jesus in a safe and fun environment, with the goal of helping them build a foundation for a life of faith. We want every child to meet Jesus through our community, Bible-based teaching, and fun activities. We want to get to know each child and share Jesus’ love with them.

You and your kids are invited to a virtual Children’s Ministry experience on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am! It will be hosted by Janet, Linda and Sally. We hope to see your happy faces, share some fun, read a Bible story, and pray together. To join the Children’s Ministry Zoom, please email Janet Earle, Children’s Minister, at children@stpaulsbloor.org for the Zoom link.

June 28  – The Fruit of the Spirit is Patience

We are learning about the good fruit that grows in our lives when we have Jesus in our hearts. The Holy Spirit changes us so that we can show more and more of these 9 good things: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. This week we are learning about patience.

Here are some fun activities linked to our Bible verse from Galatians 5:22-23.

Patient Snails – create a cute and colourful snail to remind you to have patience.

Test Your Patience Maze – test your patience by making an awesome maze with recycled materials from your home and trying to get your ball through it!

Patience Colouring – decorate our ‘Patience’ or ‘Fruit of Spirit’ colouring pages.

Share your crafts in our Parents – St. Paul’s Bloor Street’ Facebook group. We love seeing your crafts and ideas.

July 1  – Wednesday Wondering…

Our Nursery provides a safe and clean environment for little ones. We have a clean, bright space, lots of toys, and a Bible story program that’s geared to young children. We have two experienced, screened staff members to oversee their care, supported by parents and volunteers. We also have electronic pagers available so that we can always reach you. We offer a peanut-free, allergy-sensitive environment and we provide safe, age-appropriate snacks. Let us know how soon you would like us to call you back from the service, and whether or not we may change your baby’s diaper.

We offer take-home resources each week for families, so they can follow along with what their children are learning. We also offer calendars and activity books before Christmas and Easter, to help get ready for these special days. We have a variety of books and Bibles available all year round to engage children at different ages.

Our Little Sunbeams Parents & Tots group meets on Wednesday mornings from September to June for parents of preschool children. This is a free drop-in group where you can connect with other parents while your little ones play.

Be sure to join our Little Sunbeams Facebook group – a friendly and supportive community, meeting for outings in the local neighbourhoods, and the occasional night out.

Children’s Ministry
(Age 4 to 10)

In Children’s Ministry, we seek to inspire children on their faith journey. On Sunday mornings, we follow a pattern of welcome-play-gather-learn. After we greet the children, they are invited to play together for a little while. We then gather for Large Group, after which we split up in small groups divided by age. Small group is where we have snack, learn a Bible teaching and do fun activities like crafts and games.

Fun – In Children’s Ministry, we combine care, play, and interactive learning for children from birth to age 10. We offer special events throughout the year, including a Christmas Pageant in early December, Family Fun Night several times a year, a Pancake Supper in February, a Journey to Cross Experience on Good Friday, and our giant Easter Egg hunt.

Age-Appropriate Bible Teaching – Our teaching materials use the Bible to reveal Jesus to the children. We offer a variety of fun, creative and age-appropriate activities that suit the age and stage of each child.

Healthy and Safe – Ensuring a safe, secure and healthy ministry is essential to making children feel at home. All staff and volunteers are screened, qualified and have completed background checks. We also provide a clean and child-safe space, serve peanut-free and allergen-sensitive snacks, and maintain a strict sick-child policy.

Passionate – We’re passionate about serving children well. We’re committed to excellence every step of the way, from the welcome you receive, to the toys and games we offer, to the learning experiences in each class. We want children to feel at home during their time in Children’s Ministry as they connect, learn, and grow. We welcome families from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds and we seek to create an environment in which everyone can experience belonging.
