All of life has challenges and opportunities, joys and burdens. Too often it feels like a game of Survivor (where you outwit, outlast or outplay others). At times we feel under intense pressure to have a life that is victorious, to be the winner, to get our act together. Regardless, we are often shaped and even bent out of shape by our life experience.
Could there be an alternative? To follow Jesus is to be a disciple, a learner. This includes all dimensions of our lives—mind, body and soul. How can we be shaped, transformed by the creative hand of God? And where life has bent us out of shape, could we be recreated by those same hands?
Join us in the coming months as we offer a teaching series grounded in the Gospel of Matthew — chapters 5, 6 and 7. We will begin with the Beatitudes this Fall (Sept. 13th – Nov. 22nd) and then pick up after the Advent/Christmas season through to Easter (Jan. 10th – Mar. 21st) to really spend some time together exploring this alternative, a faith that will be so much more than survival. Come and discover what it is to be formed and transformed as disciples of Jesus.
Each week discussion questions will be available in the What’s Happening! and on the sermons page for you to work through as individuals, with friends or in your small group. This is a great opportunity to go deeper and continue to learn and grow through the series.
The sermons in this series will be preached at our 8:15 am Service, The Bridge Service or the 11 am Service. Please join us! To listen to a sermon follow the link to our sermons page.
