Grief

Firmly rooted in Christian faith, we can provide assistance and comfort to you during the difficult period following the death of a loved one.

Has someone just died?

Contact Shelley Tidy. She or another staff member will meet with you to provide grief support and begin the preparation for a funeral service. You may choose between a traditional funeral service, a more contemporary service, or a memorial service. All follow a basic Anglican liturgy but you will be able to personalize it with readings, music and a time of thanksgiving. There is ample space available for a reception following the service.

Would you like some help following a death?

Griefshare

GriefShare is a 13 week support group for men and women who face the devastation of grief.  This series will help participants better understand the grieving process and walk through the grief towards wholeness and hope, in the welcoming and safe setting of Christian fellowship. For more information or to register, please contact Nancy Truscott.

Pastoral Care

You may also contact Shelley Tidy. She and our pastoral staff are always present to meet with you as you grieve. We offer help from a Christian perspective, and also will make referrals if necessary to grief counselors or support groups. As well as personal support, St. Paul’s provides a year-long bereavement support program through four booklets, “Journeying Through Grief”, that are sent out at regular intervals.

Service of Light

Christmas can be a difficult time of year, when many memories and losses become real again. The Service of Light, a reflective service focusing on the light of Christ, and hope arising from life’s dark moments, takes place the week before Christmas.  For more information contact Shelley Tidy.

Would you like to pre-plan a funeral?

This can be done years in advance or in the final weeks of life. It allows you to communicate clearly with your family and loved ones around your preferences for music, readings, participation in the service, reception and designated gifts. Contact Shelley Tidy.
